Where these games come from

Sprouts was invented in 1967 by John Conway and Michael Paterson at the University of Cambridge. That year is written in a 1991 report from Carnegie Mellon University. The report is called Computer Analysis of Sprouts. Ben Orlin includes the game in Math Games with Bad Drawings.

Sprouts on Wikipedia

Kakooma was invented by Greg Tang, an American author of math books for children. His first Kakooma Puzzles book came out in 2010. Scholastic published an Addition Edition and a Multiplication Edition in 2012.
